Nordic Fintech Highlights – September
Welcome to this month’s edition of Nordic Fintech Highlights!
Last week, we had the pleasure of attending the Nordic Fintech Week in Copenhagen, where AI took the center stage.
As we turn our attention to next month’s Nordic Banking Forum, we’re excited to delve into not only AI but also a variety of other compelling topics, exploring Nordic Banking through the lens of five distinct landscapes.
September in brief
As the days grow cooler, the market heats up! Despite experiencing a third consecutive month of subdued funding, the market buzzed with exciting developments in internationalization, new launches, partnerships, and M&A activities. You may also want to check out our podcast with Fintech Daydreaming, where we dive deep into a few specific monthly topics.
Launches
This month, the spotlight was on international expansion, with numerous companies embarking on global journeys. From pan-Nordic initiatives to ventures in Spain, Germany, and Thailand, Nordic Fintech is going global.
Partnerships
September was a month of tech-driven collaborations. Unsurprisingly, the industry introduced more AI applications. This time with an extra focus on RegTech, payment solutions, and even the more conventional banking infrastructure.
Banks
Nordea grabbed headlines with extended service disruptions caused by DDoS attacks. Meanwhile, challenger banks like Alisa, Multitude, and Kompasbank made significant strides with new partnerships and innovative strategies. Additionally, Avida made a notable move by acquiring Santander’s card business in Sweden.
