December in brief
As we close out the year, let’s spotlight four key trends from 2024.
- Funding remains subdued, with only a handful of seriously notable rounds. Yet, we’re witnessing a remarkable rise in mature fintechs flourishing independently of external funding.
- Nordic Fintech is expanding its horizons, with an unprecedented surge in international ventures.
- The momentum of Open Banking is undeniable, with A2A payments capturing weekly attention in the news.
- Banks are actively engaging in fintech partnerships and M&A activities. Notably, several Nordic banks are making significant strides toward becoming BaaS providers.
Funding
This month, the spotlight shines on Swedish corporate spend solutions company Mynt, which successfully secured €22M in funding. Additionally, we observed several early-stage rounds that remain under wraps, hinting at exciting developments on the horizon.
Partnerships
Enfuce is making headlines with its dynamic partnerships, teaming up with Alisa Bank and tell.money. They also joined forces with Humla and SEB Embedded to introduce a co-branded grocery payment card for Hemköp, setting a new standard in collaborative innovation.
Banks
Danske Bank is once again capturing attention. Qred has joined hands with ERP company cspaar to offer loans through embedded finance solutions. Meanwhile, Oma Savings Bank is taking a step forward by extending its partnership with Samlink for another three years, modernizing its lending operations.
